Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Iraq Needs Economic Partnerships, Mutual Trust to Support Development
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers' Alliance, met at the guesthouse of Sheikh Sahl Al Najm Al Abdullah Al-Zarfi, sheikh of the Al-Zarfat tribe, with a large gathering of sayyids, sheikhs, and dignitaries of the Holy Najaf Governorate, extending his blessings on the occasion of Eid Al-Ghadeer and the profound significance it carries in binding the nation to the proclamation of the divine message.
During the meeting, H.E. Sayyid Al-Hakeem affirmed that Iraq has passed through difficult circumstances that have rendered it more resilient in the face of challenges, noting that diversity represents a strength when properly managed. H.E. also reviewed the previous political challenges and the state of deadlock the country had witnessed, explaining that differences remained within the constitutional and legal framework through peaceful competition, which led to the election of the President of the Republic, the Speaker, and the new Prime Minister — a scene reflecting the peaceful transfer of power and the consolidation of democracy — in addition to the nomination of a young figure with an economic background.
H.E. Sayyid Al-Hakeem addressed the challenges of the region resulting from the ongoing war, expressing hope that dialogues will lead to comprehensive and just solutions. H.E. also noted Iraq's exposure to harm from the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and the halt of its oil exports, explaining that the country is experiencing a liquidity crisis that requires broad understanding of its repercussions, and renewed his call to prioritize salaries, farmers, and contractors for the role this plays in mobilizing capital and providing employment opportunities.
H.E. Sayyid Al-Hakeem affirmed that the crisis has exposed the danger of dependence on oil, calling for the activation of productive sectors through agriculture, industry, tourism, investment, and modern technology, and stressing the importance of building trust to establish constructive partnerships. H.E. also commended the stance of the Coordination Framework in consolidating weapons under state authority in response to the call of the Supreme Reference Authority and in application of the Popular Mobilization Forces law and the Iraqi Constitution.
