Sayyid Al-Hakeem: Ramadan Atmosphere Opportunity Intensify Dialogue Resolve Outstanding Issues
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, met this evening in His office with Bafel Talabani, the President and leader of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. The meeting reviewed the latest developments in the political landscape in Iraq and the broader region, as well as ways to resolve the outstanding constitutional obligations, most notably the election of the President of the Republic and the formation of the government.
H.E. stressed the importance of prioritizing the public interest over narrow considerations and fulfilling the electoral promises made to the Iraqi people, in a way that safeguards the security and social stability achieved in the country. H.E. also called for making use of the atmosphere of the holy month of Ramadan to intensify dialogue and consultations in order to overcome the remaining political obstacles.
H.E. further urged an end to military escalation across the region, emphasizing that the language of war and weapons will serve no one and will only lead to further tensions. H.E. reaffirmed that dialogue remains the most effective and responsible path, both now and in the long term.
