Sayyid Al-Haeekm Affirms Iraqi-Turkish Relations, Water’s Fair Share
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received in His office in Baghdad on Wednesday morning, 11 February 2026, His Excellency the Turkish Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Anil Bora Inan. The meeting discussed the latest developments in bilateral relations, as well as a discussion of regional developments and mechanisms to ease tensions and promote dialogue as a means of resolving outstanding issues.
H.E. noted that Iraq is currently enjoying stability at the social and security levels, in addition to its openness to the regional and international arenas based on mutual interests and the safeguarding of national sovereignty.
H.E. underscored the importance of strengthening areas of common interest between Baghdad and Ankara in a way that serves the interests of the two friendly nations and contributes to regional stability, stressing the need to secure Iraq’s fair share of water from the Tigris and Euphrates. H.E. also highlighted the importance of rationalizing water consumption and adopting modern technologies in managing water resources, in order to confront water-related challenges and achieve water security for the country.
