During Meeting Atlantic Council Delegation, Sayyid Al-Hakeem Affirms Iraq’s Pivotal Regional Role
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received a delegation from the Atlantic Council this evening, Sunday, 8 February 2026, at his office in Baghdad, where they exchanged perspectives on recent political developments in Iraq and the wider region.
His Eminence underscored the need to safeguard Iraq’s stability, consolidate it, and turn it into a lasting and sustainable state of stability, highlighting Iraq’s pivotal role in ensuring regional stability, as proven by the trials and challenges it has endured in recent years.
His Eminence noted that Iraq has moved beyond security, social, and political challenges, and is now confronting an economic challenge that requires diversifying income sources and moving away from the rentier-state model, stressing that this shift is among the most effective solutions to stimulating productive sectors and strengthening the national economy.
His Eminence also emphasized the importance of regional stability and the necessity of prioritizing dialogue over the use of force, affirming that viable solutions remain attainable if all parties demonstrate genuine will to reach them.
