Sayyid Al-Hakeem Meets US Chargé d’Affaires, Affirms Stability Priority, Constitutional Commitments

His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, met with the Chargé d’Affaires of the United States Embassy in Baghdad, H.E. Joshua Harris, at His office in Baghdad on Thursday evening, 8 January 2026.
The meeting included an exchange of views on political developments in Iraq and the region, as well as Baghdad–Washington relations, in a manner that serves shared interests while safeguarding Iraq’s sovereignty. H.E. stressed the importance of preserving the security, political, and social stability achieved in Iraq, noting that the forthcoming challenge is economic—particularly diversifying revenue streams and activating productive sectors—and called for strategic approaches to address these priorities.
H.E. also outlined the constitutional entitlements arising from the recent elections, commending political blocs for successfully passing the Speaker of Parliament and the two deputies, and emphasized adherence to constitutional timelines for the remaining entitlements.
