xSayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Turkish Ambassador, Discusses Bilateral Ties, Iraq Water Rights
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, received on Wednesday evening, December 24, 2025, at His office in Baghdad, the Turkish Ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Anıl Bora İnan. The meeting reviewed bilateral relations and ways to advance them in service of the interests of the two neighboring, friendly countries and peoples.
His Eminence emphasized strengthening relations at the political and economic levels and coordinating positions on regional issues. H.E. called for ensuring Iraq’s fair share of the waters of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, commending joint cooperation efforts in water management and consumption rationalization.
H.E. underscored the importance of regional stability, urging major powers to exert greater efforts to prevent escalation, and noting that instability in any part of the region would reverberate across all its arenas.
H.E. also addressed political developments in Iraq, stating that the country has made significant strides toward security, social, and political stability and is on the threshold of sustainable stability, reaffirming Iraq’s openness to its regional and international surroundings in a manner that safeguards interests and preserves rights.
