Sayyid Al-Hakeem Receives Pafel Talabani Affirms Constitutional Timelines Adherence, National Stance Unity
His Eminence Sayyid Al-Hakeem, Head of the National State Powers’ Alliance, welcomed the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Mr. Pavel Talabani, at His Baghdad office on Sunday morning, December 21, 2025.
The meeting reflected on the legacy of the late President Mam Jalal (may Allah have mercy on him) and H.E.’s contributions to the political process and the establishment of the new political system, as well as the deep-rooted ties between the Talabani family and the family of Imam Al-Hakeem (may his soul be sanctified), and the defining national moments and decisive positions they shared throughout Iraq’s history.
Discussions also covered current political developments in Iraq, particularly in light of the recent election results and the positive signals they conveyed, most notably the broad public participation in the parliamentary elections and the firm commitment of society to the democratic course.
H.E. reiterated the call to uphold constitutional timelines related to electoral entitlements, emphasizing the need for clear decision-making and a unified stance across all arenas, affirming that unity across arenas reinforces national unity and cohesion, and stressing the importance of keeping the national interest and the challenges facing Iraq at the forefront of negotiations among political blocs to settle key choices.
